The 34 seashell designs below which feature on the Shrine’s walls were created by Hubert Le Galloudec to depict scenes from the Bible. Hubert would sketch out the designs with a pencil first, and then using yellow, brown or orange periwinkle seashells, he would bring the designs to life, using polyfilla to stick them on the wall.

Video 1: Filmed in the early 1970s for a ITV Channel TV series called LINK-UP. Hubert explained why he wanted to change a place of war into a place of peace. Hubert also talks about the how he created his seashell pictures, and why he’s going to give it up.
Video 2: Filmed in 2011 by Channel TV, explain the meanings of the seashell pictures. Notice the cross on the floor all done in tiles in 2008, also in the second room has the bare information boards. There are over 30 sea shell pictures in the shell shrine.
Video 3: Filmed in 2013 by Channel TV talks to shell shrine Committee members about the amount of work of the restoration. Notice the cross on the floor recreated in periwinkles seashells in 2012 and the information board are covered in red material.
Video 4: This audio CD was recorded in March 2010. Words are written and spoken by Chrissie Robert, one of the Shrine’s committee members. In 2020, this video was assembled with still photographs.
